Is there a way to import a family key by copying it into a specific dir?

Post by spammywindy »

I am trying to configure a family of a couple routers, but can't make it from the console. I import the key from the interface and restart the routers but it does not work. I wonder if I can just copy the secret key into any specific location under ~/.i2p dir instead of using the console.
Thank you.

1) you got the keys by exporting them from another router, right?

2) any clues in the logs on what went wrong? Check both after you import the keys, and after you restart

The console configuration page both puts the keys in the right place, and sets the configuration correctly, so it's not so easy to do it manually. I'd rather figure out what is wrong and fix any bugs we find than try to walk you through an error-prone manual process.

I did not see any error in logs regarding the family importing. When I click "Join" the page just refresh and does not seem to upload my key. I wonder whether it's because my I2P router is host on a remote machine, which I am using ssh port forwarding to access the console.

I have seen this issue before, but that was many releases ago:
http://trac.i2p2.i2p/ticket/2022 / http://trac.i2p2.de/ticket/2022

You may want to open a ticket on trac. I have uploaded family .crt files over SSH tunnels, so that is likely not the issue.
